As the time passes by, our teeth become darker. Over time, coffee, tea, soft drinks, smoking and certain food dyes discolour teeth. Discolouration can also be caused by taking certain medicines. The root canal treated teeth become darker.

This is possible in our practice. The whitening procedure does not damage the teeth and does not cause any changes in the tooth structure. The active ingredient is usually urea peroxide, which oxidises discolouration. Before whitening, which is done with recognised, high-quality whitening gels, teeth are thoroughly cleaned, tartar is removed and the tooth surfaces are polished. This professional cleaning is essential before bleaching, as tartar and discolouration on teeth will not come off with bleach!
We use three different bleaching methods:
- A quick fix, performed by the dentist, which can be seen immediately or after an hour or two. This is a modern, LED lamp-based whitening that causes no or minimal tooth sensitivity. This is partly due to the lamp, which does not heat up, and partly due to the material, which bleaches gently.
- The whitener is given for DAILY use and will whiten in 1-2 hours a day for ten days.
- The bleach is given for home, NIGHT time use, which is approx. reaches its full effect in eight days.
Teeth usually whiten to two shades. Repeat treatment can be given after a few years. All completely pain-free!
